Asia Pacific College (APC) has been granted autonomous status by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), highlighting its commitment to excellence in higher education.
CHED Chair Dr. J. Prospero de Vera III led the awarding ceremony on November 24, 2024, at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.
“The 77 autonomous private universities represent the best of the best among our higher educational institutions, producing world-class graduates and earning spots in international rankings,” Dr. de Vera stated.
APC is one of 77 academic institutions nationwide to receive this prestigious recognition. As an autonomous institution, APC gains extensive academic and administrative freedoms, including the ability to design its own curriculum, establish partnerships with foreign higher education institutions, and access priority funding and subsidies from CHED. It is also exempt from regular monitoring and the issuance of Special Orders for its graduates.
Rep. Mark Go, Chairperson of the Committee on Higher and Technical Education, underscored the significance of the conferment, saying, “You are entrusted not only with the future of your institutions but with the future of the Philippines. This is a chance to change lives and give hope to those who need it most.”
APC President Dr. Ma. Teresita Medado, Academic Services Executive Director Jo Anne de la Cuesta, and Quality Assurance Director Dr. Lorena Rabago accepted the award on behalf of the institution.
