School of Multimedia and Arts (SoMA) Faculty Member Mr. Jaime Pacena II debuts in Cinemalaya 2024 with his feature-length film titled “Kono Basho.” The story “delves into the lives of two estranged sisters who reunite at their father’s funeral in Rikuzentakata, where they end up forging a bond to heal their personal wounds.”
Directed by Mr. Pacena and produced by Project 8 Projects in collaboration with Mentorque Productions, the film stars Gabby Padilla and Arisa Nakano. “Kono Basho” is set in Rikuzentakata, Japan, a town that was devastated by the 2011 tsunami.
Cinemalaya 2024 features over ten short films and ten full-length films in competition, including ‘Kono Basho.’ The annual film festival will run from August 2 to 11 in various theaters across Metro Manila. Click here for the screening schedules.
