School of Architecture (SoAr)
The School of Architecture (SoAr) believes that the time is ripe to embrace the idea of AI’s interface with Architectural education. At SoAr, we understand the significance of AI’s potential as a tool to advance architectural education and architecture in general. It is also aligned with Asia Pacific College’s vision of innovation.
Some of the ways it can help SoAR is through Generative Design, Design Performance Optimization, Enhanced Visualization, implementation of SMART Building Systems and SMART Cities. Generative Design allows architects and designers to explore multiple design options in a fraction of a time. Through the use of algorithms, data can be processed to present clients with various schemes while incorporating multiple parameters at the same time.
Generative Design cuts the usual time dedicated to Schematic Design Phase in architecture. Artificial Intelligence can also be a tool towards Design Performance Optimization. Similar to the process of Generative Design, this is a game changer when complex projects focus on efficiency in performance. AI powered software allows for quick generation of optimized design schemes.
AI can also be used in Enhanced Visualization. Recent advancements in technology have made AR and VR more accessible to architectural projects. It also transformed the usually static architectural design experience into a more dynamic and immersive one.
Smart systems through the use of IoT, big data, and machine learning are turning architecture projects into living buildings able to learn and adjust through time. These projects collectively form Smart Cities that provide sustainable and better living conditions to communities. The prospect of technology-advanced cities is now becoming ubiquitous through AI and architecture.
AI has already demonstrated its power through various applications. In architecture, the prospect is bright. The future can be a better place when human creativity uses AI as a tool in architecture.
