Asia Pacific College (APC) students, specifically School of Computing and Information Technologies (SoCIT) students, successfully presented their innovative projects at Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC) in Mandaluyong, marking a significant contribution to the latter’s 73rd Founder’s Week celebration.
The presentations were part of a special conference held on January 28, aimed at highlighting student and faculty projects with significant community impact. The event aligned with DBTC’s celebration theme, “Exsurgence @ 73: We Hope, We Serve,” which emphasized the role of education in nation-building and fostering a vibrant community of learners.
Answering the call for innovators to create solutions for communities, two teams from APC took the stage to demonstrate technology designed to improve educational monitoring and public transit.
Featured Projects
- Graduate Attributes Analytics Monitoring System (GAAMSYS)
- Representatives: Jeho Subedi and Marc Nerez
- Adviser: Roselle Wednesday Gardon
The GAAMSYS team presented a data-driven solution aimed at enhancing institutional tracking of student development. Their system utilizes a mandatory end-of-year self-assessment survey to aggregate data into a comprehensive dashboard. Faculty and administrators can now access critical insights to guide curriculum development, support accreditation reporting, and ensure students are progressing toward their graduate attributes. The platform was built using the Frappe Framework and WordPress, with development managed through Jira and GitHub.
- SEAT: A Mobile Application for Smart, Efficient, and Accessible Transit
- Representatives: Aljun Cerina, Jon Axl Arones, John Lenard Resquites, and Vandre Serafico
- Advisers: Bary Reyes and Porfirio Atienza
Addressing the daily challenges of the commuting public, the SEAT team showcased a mobile platform that consolidates real-time transit data. The application features estimated arrival times (ETA) for trains, congestion monitoring, fare checks, and live location tracking with drop-off alerts. The team highlighted how SEAT leverages crowdsourced data from users to refine accuracy, aiming to make public transportation more reliable and efficient for the community.
The participation of these students not only inspired the young minds in the audience but also reinforced the collaborative spirit between APC and Don Bosco in providing impactful educational experiences.
