Asia Pacific College officially launched RankReady, an AI-powered international ranking readiness dashboard, marking a significant step towards enhancing the global competitiveness of Philippine Higher Education institutions (HEIs). The event was held on June 15, 2026, at the CHED Auditorium, CHED Central office. The launch event was attended by approximately fifty (50) selected private institutions, state universities and local colleges from NCR and other regions, signaling a shared commitment to advancing quality assurance, benchmarking, and internationalization across the sector.
From Shared Vision to Innovation
The development of RankReady was rooted in a collaborative dialogue among higher education leaders during a QS summit in South Korea last November 2025. What began as a conversation on improving institutional readiness evolved into a collective initiative to support HEIs in navigating the complexities of global rankings.
In her welcome message, APC President Dr. Ma. Teresita P. Medado emphasized that RankReady was born not from a formal directive but from a shared aspiration among institutions: “This did not come about as an official undertaking… this came about because we were all just happy to undertake the process of quality assurance. All of a sudden, everybody was craving for quality… How do we help each other?” Dr. Medado further underscored that the initiative goes beyond compliance and metrics, highlighting the deeper purpose of quality assurance: “It is not only about process improvement and quality… this is about trust—ensuring that our students, parents, and communities can rely on us to provide meaningful education.” She stressed that institutions must align curricula, strengthen employability outcomes, embrace innovation in teaching and learning, and expand access through digital platforms to meet evolving global standards.
Addressing Persistent Challenges in Ranking Preparation
The RankReady development team lead, Mr. Ryan John Perez, demonstrated how the platform addresses common challenges faced by HEIs, including fragmented data, scattered documentation, and limited visibility into institutional readiness. RankReady integrates these elements into a centralized system that enables institutions to:
- Assess readiness in real time using indicators aligned with QS and THE
- Organize and manage supporting evidences efficiently
- Generate AI-powered insights and recommendation
- Benchmark performance across institutions
Through its unified dashboard, the platform transforms complex processes into a structured and data-driven approach, allowing institutions to make informed decisions and strengthen their competitive positioning globally.
Collaboration Over Competition
A key message reiterated throughout the launch was the shift from institutional competition to collaboration. CHED Commissioner Dr. Michelle Aguilar Ong highlighted the importance of collective progress in raising the global profile of Philippine higher education. “We shouldn’t be competing with each other. We should be helping each other… Instead of being competitors, we can be partners and collaborators.” Commissioner Ong also emphasized the strategic value of the shared dashboard in enabling institutions to benchmark and learn from one another: “This dashboard allows us to see best practices across institutions—so we can learn, improve, and move forward together as one higher education system.” She clarified that while rankings can enhance visibility and reputation, the initiative is fundamentally grounded in improving educational quality and showcasing institutional strengths: “This is not about rankings alone… it is about the essence of education, continuous improvement, and opening our doors for collaboration and best practices sharing.”
Commitment to a Shared Journey
The event also featured the signing of a Commitment Agreement among participating institutions, formalizing their participation in the RankReady pilot implementation. Both onsite and virtual participants affirmed their intent to engage in data sharing, benchmarking, and collaborative quality improvement. During the pilot phase, institutions will conduct self-assessments, upload their data and evidence, and utilize the platform’s analytics to determine their readiness for international rankings. The initiative aims not only to generate institutional insights but also to build a collective dataset that benefits all participating HEIs.
Looking Ahead
As part of its long-term vision, Ms. Josephine M. de la Cuesta, APC’s Executive Director of Academic Services, reiterated that APC will document the RankReady journey through research, capturing insights and best practices that can further inform policy and institutional development.
The program concluded with a strong reminder that RankReady serves a greater purpose beyond rankings. In the closing message delivered on behalf of CHED-NCR Director, Atty. Marco Cicero Domingo, the initiative was framed as part of a broader commitment to national educational development: “This initiative is not merely about rankings… What truly matters is strengthening the quality of Philippine higher education, enhancing the competitiveness of our institutions, and ensuring that our colleges and universities are prepared to thrive in an increasingly global academic landscape.” His message further emphasized CHED’s continued support in enabling institutions to realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to global academic excellence.
The launch of RankReady represents a transformative milestone for Philippine higher education—one that promotes a culture of data-driven improvement, collaboration, and shared accountability.
By bringing institutions together under a unified framework, the initiative not only prepares HEIs for global rankings but also reinforces a deeper commitment to delivering quality education that inspires trust and drives national development.
