Empowering Career Readiness at Every Stage: APC Career Services in Action

At Asia Pacific College (APC), the Career Services Office supports students in preparing for employment and navigating the transition from academic life to the workplace. Through a series of recurring programs and industry engagements, students are given opportunities to develop practical skills, gain exposure to professional environments, and understand workplace expectations before graduation.

Career development at APC is not limited to a single event or activity. Instead, it is integrated into the student experience, particularly through the Professional Ethics course, where students undergo career preparation activities before entering their internship and eventually the workforce.

Mock Interview Program with Industry Partners

One of the key initiatives conducted through the Professional Ethics course is the Mock Interview Program. Every term, students who are preparing for their internship participate in mock interviews conducted by industry practitioners from partner organizations such as AVON and MAYBANK.

The program is designed to simulate an actual recruitment process and provides students with an opportunity to experience professional interviews before applying for internships or full-time positions.

Through this activity, students are able to:

  • Practice responding to interview questions in a professional setting
  • Receive direct feedback from industry practitioners
  • Identify areas for improvement in communication and self-presentation
  • Gain a clearer understanding of employer expectations

Conducted three times each academic year, the program has become a regular component of APC’s internship preparation process. More importantly, it allows students to make mistakes, receive feedback, and improve before facing actual recruitment situations.

Career Expo and Industry Engagement Platforms

APC also conducts its annual Career Expo, a school-wide event held towards the end of the academic year. The event brings together employers, students, interns, and alumni in a single venue, creating opportunities for networking and recruitment.

The Career Expo serves several purposes:

  • Connecting students and alumni with potential employers
  • Providing access to internship and employment opportunities
  • Allowing participants to explore different industries and career paths
  • Strengthening APC’s relationships with industry partners

For many students, the event serves as their first direct interaction with recruiters and hiring managers. It provides insight into current industry demands and helps students better understand the skills and qualifications employers are seeking.

Employment Readiness and Government Compliance Support

Preparing students for employment involves more than developing technical and professional skills. APC also assists students in completing essential pre-employment requirements through activities integrated into the Professional Ethics course.

Before beginning their internship, students are guided through processes such as:

  • SSS registration
  • Pag-IBIG registration
  • Loyalty Card application
  • Completion of other employment-related requirements

These activities address a common challenge faced by first-time job seekers: navigating government processes and employment documentation. By completing these requirements early, students are better prepared for internship and employment opportunities.

Student-Centered and Industry-Informed

The Career Services Office continuously works with industry partners to ensure that its programs remain relevant to current workplace practices and expectations.

Across its initiatives, the focus remains consistent:

  • Preparing students for professional environments
  • Providing exposure to actual workplace processes
  • Creating opportunities for industry interaction
  • Supporting students as they move from education to employment

Rather than relying solely on classroom instruction, these programs give students practical experiences that help bridge the gap between academic learning and professional work.

A Commitment Beyond Graduation

The Career Services Office extends its services beyond current students by maintaining engagement with APC alumni through career opportunities, employer connections, and industry activities.

From career exploration and internship preparation to employment readiness, APC aims to provide students with experiences that help them make informed career decisions and enter the workforce with a better understanding of professional expectations.

As industry needs continue to evolve, APC remains focused on strengthening its connections with employers and developing programs that prepare students for the realities of work beyond the classroom.
