Officers and members of APC’s Microsoft Community and the Rotaract Club attended this year’s Global Youth Summit (GYS) last August 17, 2019, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The goal was to have an enriched understanding of what it takes to be a leader.

Intending to inspire thousands of youth delegates from around the Philippines to develop their leadership, innovation, and global mindedness, the summit introduced them to a wide variety of topics such as education, technology, environment, and public policy. The awarding of winners for the Seed Grant Competition, wherein youth-led initiatives addressed relevant issues, was also held during the event to empower these individuals and inspire the current generation.

The following guest speakers shared numerous insights and life experiences about relevant issues around the globe:

  • Prim Payton – Executive Director of AIM’s Dado Banatao Incubator
  • Hon. Bernadette Romulo-Puyat – Secretary of the Department of Tourism
  • Dr. Gia Sison – G Talks host from CNN Philippines
  • Anne Curtis – National Goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF; celebrity actress
  • Antoinette Taus – founder of Planet Cora
  • Greg Auberry – President and CEO of Consuelo Foundation
  • Nelia Cruz Sarcol – British School founder

The attendees were also entertained by bands like Grace Note and I Belong to the Zoo. Their music helped to amp up the crowd, building their excitement and enthusiasm. At the end of the program, all delegates made a pledge of commitment, promising to do their best in becoming future leaders.

“It’s never too late to create change.”
