SoM Fest (Day 3): The exciting conclusion of “All or Nothing”

As the week of celebrations approached its conclusion, the most-awaited events for SoM Fest 2019: All or Nothing took place, leading to an unforgettable peak of fun. Living up to its theme, “Take the risk, win the trick,” the third and final day of SoM Fest 2019 commenced with high spirits on October 25, 2019.

The Battle of the Witz deMENTIa

The final day of SOM Fest began with the first online quiz bee of the APC Junior Philippine Institute of Accountancy (APCJPIA) titled “The Battle of the Witz deMENTIa” which took place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the auditorium. The quiz was taken using Kahoot through the participants’ mobile devices. It consisted of questions relating to SoM, all of which increased in difficulty as the rounds progressed.

A hundred and twenty-three students participated. Only the top 40 contestants advanced to the moderate round. Then the top ten winners drove into the last level. The top three winners were given SM gift certificates as their prize. Students from the crowd also participated in the Bring Me game. The winners got SM gift vouchers.

The top 3 winners for the quiz bee are as follows:

AdIQ

Headed by Julianne Monzon and Neslyn Tiongco, The Battle of the Witz deMENTIa initiated another quiz bee titled “AdIQ” by the Asia Pacific Junior Marketing Association (APJMA). It took place at MPH1 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Twenty pairs of students competed against each other. The quiz was conducted using an application made by students of the previous years.

The pairs that won are as follows: Team Army as the Champion, Ganda Lang as the 1st Runner-up, and Gym Well Son as the 2nd Runner-up. They received SM gift cards and products from Taters, Omo White, and Del Monte.

Mr. and Ms. SoM Coronation Night 2019

Continuing from day 1, the Mr. and Ms. SoM Pageant led by Sharmaine Alilin and Joshua Lipit resumed on the last day from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the auditorium. Candidates first paraded their fancy attires before proceeding to the question and answer portion. The event also featured the APC Dance Company’s performance which they showcased during the Dance Supremacy 2019 Grand Finals.

The following people served as judges: English Cluster Director Kareen Gancio, Ms. APC 2013 2nd runner-up Samantha De Guzman, Ms. APC 2014, Bb. Pasay 2015 Erika Marie Bandong, and reigning Mr. APC School of Management Clifford Shannon Cruz.

The awarding then took place, starting with the announcement of the special awards. Mr. and Ms. SoM 2018 Carl Joshua Dayrit and Abby Gail Tiongson came up the stage to have their farewell walk. The judges joined them on stage to present the awards to Mr. and Ms. SoM 2019.

SoM Night

To cap off a long and eventful week, SoM students partied and enjoyed the “SoM Night” which took place at the school cafeteria, beginning directly after the pageant. This event was led by the Junior People Management Association of the Philippines (JPMAP) and co-organized by the Business Management Group (BMAG), Tourism Management Society (TMSoc), APJMA, and APCJPIA. APC Speaks members Jeska Lauta and Sean Gonio were the emcees of the event.

SoM Executive Director Manuel Magbuhat gave his opening remarks at the start of the program. Afterward, the party officially started with activities such as the introduction and catwalk of Mr. and Ms. SoM 2019. There were games such as Happy Feet and Bring Me.

Outstanding students received SM gifts cards, sashes, and certificates of recognition. The following people received awards:

SoM Fest 2019 Chairman Kenneth Rafanan II concluded the festivities with his closing remarks. SOM week was definitely a blast.
